Revolutionizing Breakfast with the MOOD Set

Vestel ID Team's Innovative Approach to Kitchen Appliances

The MOOD breakfast set, consisting of a filter coffee machine, kettle, toaster, and tea maker, stands out with its bold and modern design. The skin-type style, covering the main functional body of each product, offers a wide range of color and accent combinations. This allows users to match their set with their décor, adding a personalized touch to their kitchen. The MOOD set is not only aesthetically pleasing but also designed for daily use, offering basic reliable functionality.

The design line was inspired by the idea of creating a skin-type body concept applied to all members of the design line. The main body of each product consists of three pieces. The inner part holds the functional parts and mechanism, while the other two pieces are skin-type cosmetic parts that cover the inner part from opposite corners. This design approach offers natural advantages of form and the opportunity for customization.

The realization of the MOOD breakfast set involves a meticulous design process. The main material of the body for products with a water tank is glass. All function buttons and info-screens are strategically positioned on the handle of units, ensuring ease of use. The opening between skin covers serves as a natural indicator, further enhancing the user experience.

The MOOD breakfast set was designed by a team of talented designers, including Elif Altay, Engin Akbaba, Itir Tumerdem, Burak Emre Altinordu, and the VESTEL ID Team. The project, which started in August 2012 in R&D Manisa, was completed in July 2013 in VestelManisa. It was later exhibited in IFA, Berlin in September 2013.

The design process involved a combination of concept design and strategy development phases. It included understanding the products of the brunch set individually, concept creation based on individual observation of the market and trends, brand and field benchmark for identifying the limitations and requirements of two various markets, and styling for ODM market. The design was awarded Silver in A' Home Appliances Design Award in 2014, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
